Blades Bobcat Boosters
Blades Bobcat Boosters is an organization designed to promote, strengthen, and support a rich, challenging, and quality education for the students through a united and collaborative effort of parents, teachers, and administrators. Through various fund raising activities and donations, we provide additional classroom enhancement materials and technology, play-ground equipment, enrichment assemblies, field trip transportation, incentive and recognition awards, teaching supplies, library materials, and provide support for building and landscape maintenance.

Description of Volunteer Job Opportunities/Committees/School Functions
Blades Bobcat Boosters 2009/2010
Ice Cream Social - Order and pick up ice cream for the ice cream social which is one week before school starts in the summer. Get a few volunteers to help hand out the ice cream that evening.
First Day Packets - Committee of people to meet at school one or two evenings before school starts to put together first day packets. Will take a few hours if there are 8 to 10 people helping. Information to distribute will be from district, blades, BBB, scouts, etc. and needs to be correlated and clipped together and put in each classroom.
Boo Hoo Breakfast - This is a breakfast given on the first day of school for the Kindergarten parents and any other new parents to our school. It is a light continental breakfast served in the cafeteria to welcome new families to Blades. It involves buying muffins, bagels, juice, coffee, etc. and having it ready to serve to the parents on the first day of school at 8:00 a.m.
Party Money Collections - Distribute party money/room mother sign up forms and then collect all the forms and money and distribute to each person that agrees to be head room mother. President will help oversee this with committee chair.
Buzz Book - Put together the school telephone/address directory.
Calendar - Put together a school calendar of all the school events, etc.
Classroom, Lunchroom and Library Help - Volunteers are sometimes needed to help in these three areas. Read to children, check out books, help the teachers, help the recess aids, etc.
Dad’s Events - We currently do not have any “dad only” events planned, but if enough
interest is shown and we have some volunteers to come up with ideas, etc., we will plan
Fall Book Fair - This is a week long book fair that will be held at Blades during the
school day and the night of the Fall Festival. Volunteers are needed to help set up, sell
books, help children with their purchases, cashier, etc. All children attend the book fair
at a certain time with their class room.
Field Day - This is the last week of school and it is fun and games outside for the whole
school. Volunteers are needed to help with planning, getting together anything needed for the day and to help each group of children with their activities, etc.
Hospitality/Social - Help plan social events for adults only, kids, and families of Blades. This will coincide with Family Fun Night planning.
KISS Breakfast - During the Fall & Spring Book Fair - Kids Invite Someone Special to Breakfast. It will be held in the
morning before school. Volunteers are needed to promote the event, purchase the food, serve the food, and clean up.
Spring Book Fair - Same as Fall Book Fair, only in the Spring
Staff Appreciation Lunch/Week - This is a week long celebration in May for the entire
staff of Blades. We like to appreciate them in creative ways throughout the week and
have a luncheon for all of them. We ask for donations of money and food for this event,
as well as help for the luncheon. Volunteers are also needed to do some fun things for the staff throughout the week to show them how much we appreciate all of them.
Testing Week Snacks - During the MAP tests, BBB provides daily snacks for the kids
in their classroom. We need volunteers to help purchase the snacks and distribute the
snacks to the kids. (BBB pays for the snacks)
Trivia Night - Trivia night is a fund raiser that will be held in January or February. Volunteers are needed to be the committee chairs and also to write questions, make donations towards baskets, assemble baskets, sell tickets, set up, clean up, etc.
Wednesday Envelope - On Wednesday mornings envelopes are stuffed to be sent home that day with the youngest child in the family. The envelopes are full of the whole week’s communication information from administration, BBB, lunch menus, etc. You can volunteer to help once a month, twice a month, or whatever fits your schedule.
Please contact us with any questions, or if you are would like to volunteer to chair one of the above committees.
