Green is among almost 100 teachers from the St. Louis metropolitan area who are being recognized by Emerson this year for outstanding educational excellence.

“He puts in 100 percent effort every day and wants his students to succeed,” said Dr. Jeremy Booker, Blades Elementary principal. “He creates a classroom environment that is friendly and engaging.”

Green pushes his students to take chances, show a growth mindset and challenge themselves, Dr. Booker said.

“He makes all of these fun games that we can play in PE and then play with other friends after he teaches them,” said Traeh Sasseen, a fifth-grader.

Green has worked in the Mehlville School District for the past 14 years, including 13 at Blades Elementary. He is an important part of the Bobcats community and provides his students with opportunities to be healthy now and as adults. Green is also a graduate of Mehlville School District.

“It was a dream of mine when I decided to be a PE teacher that I would work in the district because all the way from the top, they care about the kids, which is the most important thing,” said Green. “I was shocked when I received this award, and I’m incredibly honored.”
